CU Student Group to Host Airing of First Presidential Debate Sept. 26

first_imgShare Share via TwitterShare via FacebookShare via LinkedInShare via E-mail A University of Colorado at Boulder student group will host a live airing and panel discussion of the first 2008 presidential debate on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building room 140.The free, public and nonpartisan event sponsored by CU Late Night is an opportunity for students to learn about current issues before voting and to express themselves politically, according to Sam Silberberg, student coordinator for CU Late Night. The event will be held in an open, inclusive and safe environment, and student executives from the University of Colorado Student Union will help attendees register to vote throughout the night.After 90 minutes of watching the two candidates debate, Denver Post Assistant Managing Editor Kevin Dale and New Era Colorado Executive Director Stephen Fenberg will serve on a panel answering questions from the audience, analyzing what the candidates have previously stated and exploring how the topics will affect students and the world in the next four years.Following the panel discussion, the student-run CU Program Council will show the film “Wag the Dog,” also in Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry room 140. The free film also is open to all members of the Boulder community.The Sept. 26 event will be run by CU Late Night and the CU Program Council.
